Evaluate a practical method for NHP tooth histology in toxicity studies.
Dental findings in rodents may prompt evaluation of nonhuman primate teeth to assess human relevance. However, NHP tooth processing is not routinely standardized. This study validated a practical sagittal-sectioning method for incisors and molars.
Method 1 produced consistent, high-quality sections with clear visualization of dentin, enamel, odontoblasts, pulp cavity, and tooth roots. It also required fewer blocks and less technician time than alternative approaches.
This study demonstrates how a standardized method improves evaluation of dental toxicity in NHP studies.
