Evaluate procedure-related SQ injection site pathology in NHPs.
Evaluate procedure related SQ injection site pathology in NHPs. Subcutaneous injections can produce a range of expected tissue responses, yet contemporary baseline data in NHPs are limited. This four-year review analyzed 106 SQ injection sites from 44 control Cynomolgus macaques across six GLP studies.
Fibroplasia was the most common finding in both acute and chronic sites. Acute sites showed broader inflammatory features, while chronic sites reflected expected healing progression. These data clarify what “normal” looks like in control animals.
This study demonstrates how baseline SQ injection site pathology supports interpretation of local tolerance and systemic toxicity studies.
