Learn more about inotiv's rodent models for SARS-CoV-2 research

Find out how inotiv can support your research

The COVID-19 pandemic has the research community searching for new therapies.  As researchers learn more about the virus, they are seeking research models to validate treatments.

The cotton rat is a New World rodent that has long been used for virus research. One publication shows the model is not susceptible to the virus; however, the virus does provoke an immune response1.  The study of the immune response in this model could be valuable to better understand the virus and identify new treatments.

The Golden Syrian hamster is another widely-used rodent model for infectious disease research and has been shown to be susceptible to SARS-CoV in studies2.
