It has been shown that SARS-CoV-2 infection induces inflammatory responses in the pulmonary system; however, it is still not known which SARS-CoV-2 proteins invoke immune responses. EydisBio, Inc., partnered with Inotiv scientists to evaluate the immunogenicity of the SARS-CoV-2 spike, nucleocapsid, membrane and nonstructural proteins. SARS-CoV-2 proteins were screened for immune responses on fully differentiated THP-1 and human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Pulmonary inflammation was further assessed in BALB/c mice following intranasal administration of the SARS-CoV-2 membrane protein.
