In-Vitro-Assessment-of-the-Genotoxicity-of-Oxybenzone-Using-EpiDerm-3D-Human-Reconstructed-Skin-Micronucleus-RSMN-Assay

Inotiv’s expertise in genetic toxicology extends well beyond the standard genetox battery for pharmaceuticals and includes secondary assays in support of cosmetics and dermal products.  The work performed by Dr. Shambhu Roy and his team was presented as a poster at the Society of Toxicology meeting in March 2024 on the In Vitro Assessment of the Genotoxicity of Oxybenzone Using EpiDermTM 3D Human Reconstructed Skin Micronucleus (RSMN) Assay”. The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of the Reconstructed 3D Skin model as a follow-up assay to a positive in vitro micronucleus assay, in lieu of using a standard in vivo model.

  • The results of the RSMN assay using a chemical known to be an environmental contaminant, oxybenzone.
  • The methodology used for the RSMN assay.
  • When this assay would be implemented vs a standard in vivo follow-up assay.
