A robust historical control database is crucial in genetic toxicology for both interpreting results as well as for evaluating the validity of a test. The Bhas 42 cell transformation assay (CTA) is a sensitive short-term test for predicting chemical carcinogenicity, primarily by the tobacco industry. As part of the qualification of this assay we populated our historical control database with data from commonly used vehicle and positive controls. This database was presented in a poster, “Generation of a Bhas 42 Cell Transformation Assay Historical Database” at the September 2024 Tobacco Science Research Conference.
