Scientific poster showing how the obese ZSF1 rat models cardiometabolic HFpEF and supports translational CVRM drug discovery

Modeling Cardiometabolic HFpEF with Translational Confidence

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is one of the fastest-growing challenges in cardiovascular drug development, driven by overlapping obesity, hypertension, metabolic dysfunction, and renal impairment.

Many preclinical approaches fail to capture the complexity  of cardiovascular-renal-metsbolic (CVRM) disease, contributing to translational gaps between preclinical findings and clinical outcomes.

The obese ZSF1 rat develops progressive cardiometabolic disease affecting CVRM systems simultaneously, allowing therapies to be evaluated within an integrated biological context. By capturing disease features across multiple physiological domains rather than single endpoints, the model supports comprehensive phenotyping and helps generate data that better inform preclinical CVRM drug discovery.
